The Savage Garden: Revised Edition

This softcover book is the definitive guide and gold standard for beginning growers, and cannot be recommended strongly enough. This book gives an overview of each type of carnivorous plant, as well as proper care conditions, propagation and reproduction for each. It's written to be easy to understand by novice growers, and is an invaluable resource and teaching tool.

This two-volume series is my favorite of Stewart McPherson's works, and covers nearly every type of carnivorous plant classified to date. Information on each plant includes biology, habitat, range, speciation, history and a wide range of additional information with vivid color photos. Volume 1 covers Aldrovanda, Dionaea, Darlingtonia, Heliamphora, Sarracenia, Nepenthes, Cepahlotus, Brocchinia and Catopsis.

An Introduction to Micropropagation

For those who are experienced and are interested in using home tissue culture to propagate your carnivorous plants, this volume provides an excellent starting point, and explains the basic theory, as well as detailed protocols on proper practices, easily-followed diagrams, things to avoid and troubleshooting.
