Cephalotus

Cephalotus follicularis is a pitcher plant species that is endemic to Australia, and goes by the common names "Australian Pitcher Plant" and "Albany Pitcher Plant" (for the city in Australia, not the city upstate). While still highly sought, it has been more prevalent in cultivation over the past several years.

It is a slowly-growing plant that produces both flat non-carnivorous leaves a and visually striking pitchers with areolated patches of transparency/translucency on the pitcher lid and, most notably, a very toothed peristome. Growers have successfully cultivated this under a variety of different media mixes, but a broad generalization is that the plant prefers a well-drained media, with cooler temperatures. When grown in lower light conditions, the pitchers tend to be larger, while in higher light conditions the pitchers tend to be more colorful.
